New Delhi: Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee Sunday started a kidney dialysis centre at Gurdwara Bala Sahib in New Delhi. The medical facility will provide free treatment and food to its patients.

”This will be the largest kidney dialysis centre in the country, which has capacity of conducting dialysis of 500 patients every day. In one go, 100 patients can be provided dialysis service. The service at the centre will be free. We haven’t built any cash or billing counter. The patients and their attendants will be served meals from the langar, ” said DSGMC president Manjinder Singh Sirsa.

A hospital is already functioning from the campus of the Gurdwara. The committee plans to shift entire existing medical infrastructure to a new building where the dialysis centre is located. ”The dialysis centre has been set up in one block of the new building.

The DSGMC will source contributions from big corporate houses under their corporate social responsibility (CSR), individuals, and government schemes like Ayushman Bharat to run the hospital. Renowned dialysis specialist doctors of the country will manage the facility, ” said Sirsa.

On March 11, the committee will open a diagnostic centre at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, where service such as MRI, CT Scan, Ultrasound, and other tests will be available at the ‘cheapest’ rates. ”We are starting the hospital with a dialysis centre named after Baba Harbans Singh. Our motive is to provide expensive medical services to the needy free or at cheapest rates, ” Sirsa said.

DSGMC chief Manjinder Singh Sirsa told that this is the first hospital where there will be no cash counter. There will just be a registration counter for sick patients from whom no money will be taken.

Sirsa added that the hospital has 50 beds and 50 electric chairs. This has been done because during dialysis, if a patient feels boredom or discomfort on the bed, then he can also sit on the chair. “The machines and all the equipment installed here are sourced from Germany. All the machines are modern as well as equipped with the latest technology, he said.

Sirsa further explained that patients from any corner of the country will be welcome to get treated. There will be a facility for kidney dialysis for about 500 patients in a day. Dialysis of a patient lasts for about 3-4 hours, in such a situation, people will be able to get treatment on 100 beds alternately. Well-known doctors of the country have also been recruited for this hospital. Some of them are also Nephrologists from South India.

Since the hospital has been opened in Banglasahib Gurdwara itself, the patients will have the privilege to listen to the Guruvani all day. Along with that, food and drink will also be free for the family members apart from the patients. Food for them will come from the anchor of the gurudwara.
